First 5 California's Early Education Effectiveness Exchange (E4) Learning Academy
Academy Director - Dr. Ida Rose Florez, WestEd Center for Child and Family Studies
The E4 serves as the primary statewide resource designed to facilitate quality improvement in early learning centers and classrooms participating in any of the three Child Signature Program (CSP) RFA opportunities. First 5 California has selected WestEd Center for Child and Family Studies to implement the E4 from July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2015.
The E4 was created to provide quality enhancement training and technical assistance to CSP county, site, and classroom staff to implement the requirements of the three RFAs by:
- Assisting in the development of Improvement Plans (IPs) based on Readiness Assessments using a web-based application that tracks and monitors progress (CSP 2 only)
- Providing training and technical assistance, based on the needs and goals of classroom, site and county IPs (all CSP)
- Creating, maintaining, and operating an interactive E4 Website, which includes a resource center/document library, calendar of events, CSP user community forum, and partner information, and other resources (all CSP)
- Planning and facilitating annual CSP statewide meetings and quarterly regional meetings for CSP county staff (all CSP)
First 5 California's E4 website is designed to provide CSP participants and other early childhood educators the ability to engage in topic-specific discussions, network with others, access teaching and learning resources, and more importantly, improve classroom experiences for children.
